Open a door and you never know who might walk through it. In this spirit, today I am seeing tributes all over the internet for Pippa Garner, an artist I had never heard of but who seems to embody some of what I am trying to do here, in that she represents a new paradigm of what it means to be an artist. Much of what she did over her career (she died on December 30 at 82) might not –was not at first– seen as "art." In the last few years she has become more understood and embraced by the art establishment, but she never gave a fuck about the art establishment, which is why she is a transformative artist. Here is a NYT gift article about her show art ArtOmi.

better yet, Google her to open your eyes. RIP Pippa.
PS, I am not planning to fill up your inbox with posts, but discovering this felt like a gift, so in the spirit of art as gift, I felt obliged to pass it along.
Thanks for clueing me into Pippa.
